Few potters sculpt everyday pieces are as beautifully as Sandra McKenzie Schmitt. Working in her Illinois studio, she fashions clay into all sorts of animals, people, flowers and vegetables. We love all her figures, most done in high-fire pottery with natural color glazes. And most especially we enjoy her casserole dishes, which are completely functional. When using, start them off in a cold oven and let them warm up gradually. When not in use, keep them displayed for everyone to enjoy.
