Catawba Valley, North Carolina, is home to many famous traditional potters. When Charles Lisk and his wife moved there, he was already a good potter and he had the extreme good fortune to live close to Burlon Craig. He and Burlon became friends, and from him Lisk learned many of the firing techniques that make his pots and jugs so valuable today. Lisk sells his pottery at lottery-style kiln openings only a few times a year, and at nearly every event there are more would-be buyers than pots!
